I think part of the issues is the poor quality of the grout to start with in many houses. I used some stain resistant grout in one of my bathrooms and it has been like 3 years and I still don't have to clean it. The grout was pre mixed and smelled more like caulk then cement. It was a little tricky to use since it set up pretty fast but the results have been amazing. The stuff I used was made by Traffic Master. Oh yeah, I never even sealed it.
