Arrow Ultimate Battery Power UBP5000BT-DW-CH Battery Belt Review

If you have a lot of DeWalt, Ryobi or Craftsman 18V cordless tools and find yourself frequently running out of battery power, the Ultimate Battery Power Battery Belt is something you should definitely check out. Repetitious or continuous use of cordless power tools can be troubling, since you normally need to keep a collection of batteries on the ready. Recently, we spent some time with the new Ultimate Battery Power UBP5000BT-DW-CH Battery Belt which came with the battery adapter for top post style 18V DeWalt cordless tools. The concept behind this battery belt is that it gives you up to 3.5 times longer run-time - and that means getting through a project on a single charge and with no battery changes.

I am not a big fan of NiCD batteries (I am a Lithium ion fan) on the count of their discharge rate, but this seems like a good pack

I purchased one of these after reading the review. I've been using it for about a week now and I like it. The battery is heavy but very tolerable with the belt system. I may have to order the backpack battery holder so I can wear my regular tool belt. I have the Ryobi battery adapter and, I also asked the company to look into a Bosch adapter for my regular tools. I use the Ryobi adapter for my cordless blower, weed trimmer, tree pruner, and hedge trimmer.

I just went through my first charge and I would estimate (roughly) that I got about as much run time as 2 to 2-1/2 full sized lithium batteries (2.4 ah). Power output seems to drop off in the first 20-25% of use the next 50-60% of use gives slightly less but very usable amount of power. In the final 10-15% of use, the power drops of noticeably as any other NiCd battery does. This battery lasts a long time. I bet the Ryobi cordless fan would run for a week with this battery. Charge time is about 7-8 hours.

All in all, I'm very happy with this system so far. If they produce a Bosch adapter, I'll be able to use my construction tools with the system as well.
